Eco Living Bokashi Compost Starter
Bokashi, a japanese word for ‘fermented organic matter’, is just that. It is a bran material that has had Effective Microorganisms fermented onto it. When this material is added into the designated EM composter it begins to break down the organic waste with fermentation instead of the conventional decompostion and decay. Unlike conventional methods the fermentation allows all the benefical microbes from the organics and the bokashi to thrive while they break down the organics into a pre-compost state.
The environment created will not allow bad odour causing bacteria and pathogens to grow therefore there is no foul odour or disease growth present. This allows the user to add meat, fish, poultry, cheese, dairy and other high bacteria containing foods to this system along with the conventional fruits and vegetables.
